Dr. Matthys is a registered abdominal and general surgeon, and next to being a highly specialized surgeon for the Gastro-Intestinal Tract, he has achieved over many years of his practice an extended experience in Bariatric Surgery.

All his procedures are performed laparoscopically or via robotic surgery.

Dr. Matthys has been a Bariatric Surgeon since 2004, leading the Centre for Mini-Gastric Bypass since 2012.

Dr. Matthys was the first, in Belgium, to perform the Vertical Clip Gastroplasty with the B-Clamp™ in early 2022.
